Aeration

One of the most important services for lawn care is an annual aeration treatment. Aerating your soil helps reduce and prevent thatch buildup plus it promotes the development of organic matter in your soil.

If you lawn hasn't had an aeration treatment in the last few years, call our office to schedule one either in the spring or fall.

Central Illinois Lawn Services

Owning a healthy lawn requires regular fertilization that provides valuable nutrients that often are depleted through years of neglect. We provide a regular program of lawn fertilization designed to promote optimal growth, without excessive top growth that requires additional mowing. Regular application of nutrients given throughout the growing season insures that your soil has the optimum balance of nutrients that can easily be absorbed through the turfgrasses root system.

Part of our lawn service also includes weed control. Weeds are present in most lawns, but too many weeds in a lawn are a sign that something isn't right. It could be that the soil has become compacted or depleted of nutrients. We'll examine your soil to carefully determine its organic composition so we can adjust our treatment levels to help build up organic matter in the soil. If the soil appears to be compacted we'll suggest that additional organic matter be added and that you might perhaps need more than just an annual aeration treatment for a year or two until the compaction is relieved.

Weed Controls

If your lawn has a several weeds, depending on what type of weed they are, we'll either spot treat for them, or put down a pre-emergent application that helps control grassy weeds like crabgrass. In extreme cases, it may take one full growing season to get serious weed problems under control. However, once we accomplish this, and with regular fertilization, your lawn should become a thick, healthy turfgrass with very few weeds which can be easily monitored and controlled in subsequent.

Lawn Diseases

Lawn diseases can be a serious problem in the landscape. However, most of the time, lawn diseases can be completely avoided with just a little common sense and good cultural practices. In fact, it is usually because of not following good cultural practices that lawn diseases gain a foothold.

Most lawn diseases are present in all lawns to one degree or another. It is when the turfgrass becomes stressed that these diseases can cause damage. Stress can be either from extreme weather conditions, or poor mowing practices, or poor watering practices.

  • When mowing, never removed more than 1/3 of the grass blade at one time. This insures the turfgrass plant is not stressed.
  • Make sure the mower blade is sharp so it cuts the leaf blade and doesn't tear the leaf.
  • Water the grass in the morning so that the leaf blade is dry during the cooler night-time temperatures.

Landscape Services Out lawn technicians will keep a close eye on your lawn with each visit and advise you of any problems that may have become apparent since their last visit.
